Azania Tripp

Azania (she/her) has been making one-of-a-kind jewelry for 7 years. She wanted to craft an earring that was lightweight and hypoallergenic and unique for each person.

 

She started Obsidian Pause Wearable Paper Art in 2016. She is a Black/Singaporean Eurasian woman, born in St. Cloud, Minnesota. She used collage to manage her ADHD/ADD, depression, and anxiety. As an LGSW (Liscences Graduate Social Work), and years of working with families, youth, and students in Higher Education, she enjoys facilitating workshops so people can collage their own slef-reflective wearable paper art in her workshops.

Azania has her first solo exhibition at the African American residency recipients at the Minnesota African American Heritage Museum and Gallery for 2023-2024 for there artist residency program. in Summer 2024,  she will have a show in Duluth Art Institute.

 

She has received recognition and award from various organizations including the 2023 Creative Support for Individuals Grant Award from the Minnesota State Arts Board, the 2022 Artist Driven Marketing Grant, Arts, Culture & the Creative Economy, the 2022 Growth Fund Pilot program, Spring Board of the Arts, 2022/2021 Spark Leadership Grant, Coalition of Asian American Leaders, 2021 Creative Support Grant, Minnesota State Arts Board, 2019 Individual Arts Grant from Central Minnesota Arts Board, and will have a exhibition show with Duluth Art Institute in the summer of 2024.
